RMI Education and Skills Strengthening Project
The Government of the Republic of Marshall Islands has actually received financing from the World Bank for the Education and Skills Strengthening Project (ESSP) cost. It plans to apply part of the proceeds for seeking advice from services.

Women and Youth Training for
Gender Equality, Climate Change, Disaster Risk Reduction and Water Safety Management has recently taken place at the University of the South Pacific's school in Majuro, the Republic of the Marshall Islands(RMI ). The training welcomed participants from all 24 atolls and featured resource speakers from federal government companies, non-governmental organizations, and global advancement partners from the RMI Environmental Protection Authority, Climate Change Directorate, Office of the Chief Secretary, Ministry of Culture and Internal Affairs, National Disaster Management Office, Women United Together Marshall Islands, RMI Human Trafficking Task Force, Waan Aelõñ in Majel, Jo-Jikum, and the International Organization for Migration. In her opening remarks, Secretary for the Ministry of Culture and Internal Affairs, Brenda Alik, underscored the significance of collective action in constructing a climate-resilient country."It is our obligation to come together and work together. As we deal with the challenges posed by climate change, understanding its influence on our water resources is necessary for enhancing the well-being of neighborhoods across the Marshall Islands,"she said.

. The Marshall Islands: Skills Training and Vocational Education Project Assesses the performance of the project and highlights lessons. The low educational achievement and shortage of Marshallese skilled workers were largely due to the low quality of basic education, lack of access to education in the outer islands, and weaknesses in skills training and the professional and technical education system.
These supported an economy marked by high joblessness because of constrained private sector growth and federal government downsizing. Unemployment was particularly high among the youth and women in the external islands. Suitable local experienced personnel for existing job vacancies
were unavailable, thus the importation of properly proficient foreign workers. Hence, there was a mismatch between available jobs and abilities of the Marshallese labour force. These conditions supplied the initiative for the Government
of the Marshall Islands to focus on technical and employment education training reforms. In 2000, ADB authorized a loan for $9.1 million to improve skills training to offer trained employees required for sustained financial and social development. This was to be attained through an integrated national skills training system. The job included four components: development of a profession awareness program, abilities training enhancement, improved abilities training chances for ladies and youth, and institutional strengthening. The expected result was increased income-generating chances and employment for trainees, especially females and youth in the outer islands. In general, the job was ranked not successful. Minimal development was accomplished in making the job responsive to the requirements of its beneficiaries and private-sector employers. The enduring weakness of bad numeracy and literacy proficiencies
among public primary and secondary school graduates and dropouts going into college or attending voc-tech education could be partially attributed to the poor quality of standard education. The task was supply-driven and could not establish a strong linkage with economic sector requirements or align its activities with the needs of the labour market. The status of the technical and trade education training system has remained essentially the same after job conclusion. The study advanced that ADB might motivate the Government of the Marshall Islands, through assessment and policy dialogue, to follow through on the government's
dedication to establishing a committed labour information system to link technical and employment education training program offerings with industry demand. Although the job established a labour market details system, in the absence of in-house personnel ability at the National Training Council, it was not fully operational.
