MP backs biodiesel tax break campaign

Liberal Democrat MP Andrew George is backing a project to keep tax breaks for companies who .

Producers converting cooking oil into biodiesel currently benefit from a 20p differential but that is because of end next April.

The St Ives MP, who leads the Lib Dem Environment Team, has actually been fulfilling with the UK sustainable biodiesel alliance.

Mr George said "a number of small companies in Cornwall presently generate income from used cooking oil".

He included: "In order to be able to get this type of market going it does need simply a little bit of lift which is available in the type of tax foregone."

Biodiesel is a blend of standard diesel, rapeseed and vegetable oils.
